Word Family란 같은 Rime으로 구성된 단어의 그룹입니다. 파닉스를 공부하고, 어휘를 익혀나갈 때 Word Family는 단어를 분석할 수 있도록 도와줍니다. 특히 모음을 익힐 때 유용한 Word Family는 rime을 통해 단어를 쉽게 읽을 수 있어서 Fluency를 향상시켜줍니다. 또한 패턴을 이용하기 때문에 Spelling을 쉽게 쓸 수 있도록 해줍니다. 대다수의 영미권 선생님들이나 학자들도 학생들이 파닉스를 배울 때 Word Family를 함께 학습하는 것이 효과적이라고 합니다.
